- Billy Warren distributed copies of a letter to HPI
from Dr. William Cale, president of UNA, in response to our letter about
an archival center on campus. In Dr. Cale’s letter, he related that the
archives have been moved from the basement of Collier Library to the

the Dean of Informational Services.
Billy reported that Charlotte Dean, Lee Freeman, Iva McClure, Judy Tiffin
and he met with Garry Warren, Cecile Nabors and Louise Huddleston in the new
archival center on November 15. It was a very productive meeting, and all
parties came away with the understanding that the expanded archival space
will accommodate valuable documents related to local history. Everyone
agreed that this is truly an exciting step forward in efforts to preserve
locally important documents, pictures, etc.
- Billy Warren reported that he conducted a walking
tour on Friday, November 18, for 95 sixth graders and their adult
chaperones of Wilson Park and the buildings surrounding it. The students
were very responsive and attentive. It was an excellent opportunity to
share the historic preservation story with members of the younger
generation.
- After discussion of the topic, the Board agreed that
the Cemetery Stroll will take place on Saturday, May 13 – with Sunday, May
14, as the rain date.

Melissa Bailey to secure Main Street and the Planning Department of the
City of Florence as co-sponsors for the program in conjunction with the
meeting. The program will focus on all residents and/or property owners
