GOALS – 2009

1. Continue to serve as the fiscal agent for the Bailey Springs/Camp Westmoreland Restoration Project.
   
   
2. Continue to serve as the fiscal agent for the Forks of Cypress Restoration Project and the FDR Statue Project.
   
   
3. Encourage historic preservation efforts through the annual presentation of the Capital Award.
   
   
4. Support the continued restoration of the Wilson Family Cemetery.
   
   
5. Conduct the annual Cemetery Stroll in April, 2010.
   
   
6. Push for the establishment of a Florence-Lauderdale Archival Center.
   
   
7. Make presentations to community organizations and agencies to promote historic preservation.
   
   
8. Conduct historic walking tours for community organizations and agencies.
   
   
9. Collaborate with the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel to promote the state’s small towns and downtowns.
   
   
10. Complete the paperwork necessary to attain the listing of the Florence City Cemetery on the Alabama Register of Historic Cemeteries.
    
    
11. Continue to support the repair or replication of the fountain in Wilson Park.
    
    
12. Support the restoration of exteriors of historic commercial buildings in downtown Florence through the paint supply initiative.
    
    
13. Continue to provide a yearly subscription of Preservation, the monthly magazine of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, to the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library.
    
    
14. Maintain and regularly update HPI’s website:  www.florencehistorical.org
    
    
15. Work collaboratively with the Florence Historic Board and Florence Main Street on preservation/restoration efforts of mutual interest.
    
    
16. Encourage the development of additional historic districts and the development of the full potential of existing districts.
    
    
17. Continue the creation of a virtual tour of all historic districts in Florence by adding photographs, official names and construction dates of each structure to HPI’s website.
