1. Continue to serve as the fiscal agent for the Bailey Springs/Camp Westmoreland Restoration Project.

2. Continue to serve as the fiscal agent for the Forks of Cypress Restoration Project and the FDR Statue Project.

3. Encourage historic preservation efforts through the annual presentation of the Capital Award.

4. Conduct the annual Cemetery Stroll on Saturday, April 24, 2010.

5. Promote the establishment of a Florence-Lauderdale Archival Center.

6. Make presentations to community organizations and agencies to promote historic preservation.

7. Continue to lobby Alabama’s Congressional delegation for passage of the Historic Homeownership Assistance Act.

8. Conduct historic walking tours for community organizations and agencies.

9. Support the restoration of exteriors of historic commercial buildings in downtown Florence through the paint supply initiative.

10. Continue to provide an annual subscription to Preservation, the monthly magazine of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, for the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library.

11. Maintain and regularly update HPI’s website: www.florencehistorical.org.

12. Work collaboratively with the Florence Historical Board, Florence Main Street and similar organizations/agencies on preservation/restoration efforts.

13. Encourage the development of additional historic districts and the development of the full potential of existing districts.

14. Continue the creation of a gallery of photographs of every local structure on the state or national historic register for posting on HPI’s website.

15. Develop virtual walking tours of historic districts to be posted in video format on HPI’s website and/or to be created in DVD format.

16. Serve as organizer and host of periodic meetings of representatives from local organizations such as Florence Main Street, Florence Historical Board, Florence-Lauderdale Tourism Board, Downtown Florence Unlimited, City of Florence Planning Department, Shoals Environmental Alliance and HPI for discussions on topic of mutual interest.

17. Encourage the further restoration of the Sweetwater mansion and adjacent cemetery.
